February 16th 2025: 27th Annual Detroit Kendo Tournament

October 27th 2024: Ontario Junior Tournament

Kouta Horiguchi from Macomb Kendo Dojo places 1st in the 2024 Ontario Junior Tournament held in Toronto, Canada. Kouta had to win 4 matches to win the tournament which he was able to accomplish in excellent fashion. His junior mixed team also took home a bronze medal in the Youth Team Division. Congratulations, Kouta!

October 19th 2024: Midwest Kendo Federation Championships

Another successful weekend for Macomb Kendo Dojo. On October 19 MKD traveled to Chicago to compete in the annual Midwest Kendo Federation Championships. Their efforts were well rewarded with a first place victory in the Team’s division, as well as multiple medalists from a variety of divisions! Well done!

Congratulations to Mike Krueger and Eden Cheng for successfully passing their nikyu exam! You two gents are consistent with keiko so it was no surprise there! Well done!

October 10th 2024: Macomb Kendo Dojo practice at new location in Madison Heights, MI.

October 5th 2024: MWKF Shinpan and Bokuto Kihon Seminar

Macomb Kendo Dojo members Travis Hill, Mimi Hill, Tim Minowa, and Ryan Choi were able to attend the 2024 MWKF Shinpan Seminar and Bokuto Kata & Technique Training at the Choyokan Kendo Dojo in Chicago, IL. It was an event focused on improving refereeing abilities and a great opportunity to become adept at Bokuto Kihon. It was led by Robin Tanaka Sensei (7th Dan) and co-lead by Kotaro Yoshida Sensei (7th Dan).

September 15 2024: 3rd Annual Michigan Cup

Macomb Kendo Dojo members participate in 3rd Annual Michigan Cup Tournament in Warren, MI. Results: Adult Team 1st Place Macomb Kendo Dojo. Yondan up 1st Place Travis Hill 3rd Place Daichi Sakuma. Women’s 1st Place Kiki Choi, 2nd Place Mimi Hill 3rd Place Sarah Chung. Shodan/Nidan 3rd Place Kouta Horiguchi. Senior Youth Teams: Macomb Kendo Dojo. Senior Youth Individuals 3rd Place Kouta Horiguchi.

July 27 2024: Macomb Kendo Dojo joint keiko with Koyokai and Ohio State University

Macomb Kendo Dojo’s Travis Hill, Mimi Hill, and Michael Krueger visit Koyokai with guest members from Ohio State University Kendo Club Bakusa Conteh, Adri Wilburn, and Maya Perlmutter.

October 14th 2023: Macomb Kendo Dojo participates in the 2023 Johnson Cup Taikai.

Macomb Kendo Dojo takes 3rd Place in Adult Teams, Mimi Hill takes 1st Place in Women’s, Travis Hill takes 2nd Place in Yondan+, Daichi Sakuma 3rd Place in Yondan+, Sarah Chung takes 3rd in Women’s.

October 9th 2023: Macomb Kendo Dojo takes home gold in this year’s Midwest Tournament hosted in St. Louis, MO.

September 24th 2023: Macomb Kendo Dojo’s Daichi Sakuma and Skyler Do participate in Case Western Reserve University Student Cup!

Daichi Sakuma took 1st place in the Yudansha division. Congratulations!
Skyler Do captured 2nd place in the Mudansha division! Congratulations! Skyler also teamed up with University of Michigan A in the Teams division.
